SafariHQ Whirlwind Helicopter Safari

Up until now, the only way that you could see the top of Ol Doinyo Lengai, Tanzania’s only active volcano, or the hundreds of thousands of flamingoes lining the shores of Lake Natron, was by either trekking to the top of Ol Doinyo Lengai, an activity limited to guests with time and good health on their side or driving for several hours by safari vehicle to the shores of Lake Natron to witness the wildlife spectacle.

SafariHQ can now offer guests a whirlwind helicopter aerial safari to not only Ol Doinyo Lengai and Lake Natron, but also Olduvai Gorge, Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara in just two and a half hours.

Travelling in airconditioned style, guests lift off from Arusha Airport at 4:00pm and will be taken on an aerial journey of discovery, flying between the Mountain of the Gods, Ol Doinyo Lengai and the flamingo fringed shores of Lake Natron on the right, a leg that takes a little as 30 minutes. After witnessing the thousands of flamingos on the shore of Lake Natron, fly across the great Serengeti National Park to Cradle of Humanity, Olduvai Gorge, where the famous Louise and Mary Leakey discovered some of the earliest human remains. Depending on the time of the years guests may be treated to an aerial view of the “Great Migration” stretched out on the plains of the Serengeti. The true magnitude which can really be appreciated from the air.

The aerial safari then continues onward and upward where it touches down in time for sundowner drinks and snacks at a picnic site on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, the World’s largest unbroken caldera, often referred to as “Africa’s Eden” and the eighth natural wonder of the world.

The flight continues along the Great Rift Valley and the fringing Lake Manyara National Park, a scenic gem, considered as a virtual microcosm of the Tanzanian Safari experience, before it culminates back at Arusha Airport.

This is certainly not an experienced to be missed and is a great way to visit some of Tanzania’s greatest wild treasures in airconditioned comfort.
