General Information
There are 13 spacious tented rooms known as ‘bandas’, and each one is encased within a larger reed and thatch building.
The bedroom of each banda stands within a large canvas tent. It features large, comfortable beds, a writing desk and a bedside light. Brightly coloured throws and makuti mats on the floors offer colour and character. Each private verandah looks out over the (usually dry) river and offers a large built-in sofa for relaxing on; some also have a hammock. The en-suite bathrooms are built onto the back of each banda, with rustically cut stone walls to waist height and thick reeds above that. There are flush toilets, hot and cold showers and an area for hanging clothes.
Mwagusi’s main dining and lounge area is a spacious open-sided room with views out over the Mwagusi River. Under the high thatch ceilings are dining tables where guests have breakfast and lunch. There are also a number of sofas that offer a comfortable place to relax and a great spot to look out for animals. In front of the main banda is an area where guests gather in the mornings and evenings around the campfire.
Location
Mwagusi Camp is set on the banks of the seasonal Mwagusi River, in the northern section of Ruaha National Park.
