General Information

Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge boasts large, well-equipped rooms with breathtaking views of the crater floor far below. It has an imposing lobby and dining room/observation deck. All suites are centrally heated and the bar and dining room feature large log fires in the evenings. Opened in 1992, the lodge can accommodate 190 guests in 92 suites, each with wall-to-wall carpeting, central heating, a private lounge with a mini bar, a bedroom with two queen size beds and ample room for a third, an en-suite bathroom.

The Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge has the best views of any of the Crater’s lodges and also has the quietest access route to the Crater floor. This road can be used for descents and ascents and it sees very little traffic compared to the road on the western side of the Crater. This also means that you can start your game viewing on the opposite side of the floor of the Crater to most people, and as a result you have a few hours with relatively few other vehicles around.

The swimming pool is located in front of the Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge main building and is surrounded by well manicured green grass. The pool occupies a lovely spot, with stunning views right out over the Ngorongoro Crater.

Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge is located on the eastern rim of the Ngorongoro Crater.
