You will arrive at either Kilimanjaro or Arusha Airport where you will be greeted by one of the SafariHQ guides who will personally escort you to your accommodation at The Arusha HotelArusha is the gateway to the world famous game sanctuaries of Tanzania and is one of the oldest towns in Tanzania.  The day offers an excellent opportunity to shop for authentic souvenirs, including Makonde carvings, and the colourful Tinga Tinga paintings and batiks that are masterfully and painstakingly created by local Tanzanians.

Day 2: Tarangire National Park

After breakfast you will be greeted at your accommodation by your guide. We will then make our way to Tarangire National Park for an adventure packed day of game driving.  This park is dominated by the perennial Tarangire River and is characteristically known for its giant baobab tress that stretch  and wind their branches into the blue sky. The most spectacular feature of Tarangire is its large elephant population. In fact, it has the largest population of any park in northern Tanzania. These gentle giants abound in excess of 3,000. Tarangire is currently experiencing and elephant baby boom and you will notice a lot of juniors and babies as members of  the herd.  Also expect to see zebra, eland, mongoose, giraffe, bushbuck, hartebeest, dik dik, impala, warthog, reedbuck. Primates you may encounter are olive baboon, vervet monkey and bushbaby. Many carnivores are abundant throughout the park such as lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena and jackal. Dinner and overnight stay at Tarangire River Camp.

Day 3: Lake Manyara National Park

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

We rise early and enjoy a game drive en-route to Lake Manyara National Park. Lake Manyara is an amazingly diverse park that is well known for its tree-climbing lions, elephants and 3 species of primates including vervet monkey, blue monkey and baboon. The park boasts one of the highest concentrations of elephants in Africa and is home to the largest baboon troop ever documented. The park is home to an amazing variety of birds and animals, especially considering its relatively small size. The uniquely lush green jungle habitat of Lake Manyara is nestled at the base of the Great Rift Valley, and it’s large lake shimmers like a mirage in the distance. Dinner and overnight stay at Migunga Tented Camp.

Day 4: Serengeti National Park

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

We will depart early in the morning and drive through the small town of Karatu towards Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Enjoy the beautiful panoramic views as we drive around the Ngorongoro Crater rim while game viewing  towards the endless plains of the Serengeti. We will stop at Olduvai Gorge, site of Louis and Mark Leakey’s famous discoveries of man’s ancient ancestors, the Zinjanthropus Bosei.  After continuing on our safari we also stop at a Maasai Boma(village) where you will get a chance to see the Maasai performing their traditional dances. You may even get a chance to join in! We will then proceed towards the world famous Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti is unequalled for its beauty and scientific value and has come to symbolize the classic African Safari. With more than 2 million wildebeest, 500,000 Thomson’s gazelle, and 250,000 zebra, it has the largest concentration of plains game animals in Africa. Enjoy an overnight stay at your Kirurumu Serengeti Camp.

Day 5: Serengeti National Park

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

You will rise early to enjoy an early morning game drive. At sunrise you may encounter animals grazing in the beautiful light of sunrise and predators may still be busy hunting before retiring to rest for the day.  Sunrise on the Serengeti is not to be missed and extraordinary photographic opportunities will abound at this magical time of day. You have the option to return to your accommodation for a hot lunch or to opt for a packed lunch which can be enjoyed at one of the various picnic sites found in the Serengeti. After lunch you will continue on a game drive.  Around the time of dusk be on the lookout for lion. Cheetah can also be spotted on the plains in the early morning and late afternoon when temperatures are not too high. They rely on daylight and speed to catch their prey.  Hippo pods can be seen in the bigger pools and rivers while crocodiles can be seen sunning themselves on the riverbanks. Dinner and overnight stay at Kirurumu Serengeti Camp.

Day 6: Ngoronogoro Conservation Area

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Today you will rise early to enjoy your last game drive in the Serengeti. Mid morning we will make our way to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You will have the chance to relax and enjoy your accommodation at Kirurumu Ngorongoro Camp. In the low season you will stay at Crater Forest Tented Camp.

Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater/Arusha Town

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

At Sunrise, we descend 600 metres magnificent into the Ngorongoro Crater. The Crater is a world heritage site and the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and is commonly referred to as the 8th wonder of the world. The 2,000 feet high walls of the approximately 10 mile wide crater create a natural amphitheatre for the densest populations of large animals anywhere in the world. With a resident population of over 25,000 mammals, you are sure to be overwhelmed  by the abundance of wildlife that exists within the crater. The Ngorongoro Crater is a microcosm of the African safari experience and in one day it is possible to see a staggering array of wildlife including all the big carnivores. With abundant and easily accessible wildlife the Ngorongoro Crater is truly awe inspiring with a strikingly majestic and sublime landscape. Ascend the crater in the early afternoon and depart for Arusha where the wildlife safari ends. You may wish to add one of our optional activities as your next destination. Maybe a gorilla trek or you may just like to spend a couple of days relaxing on the white sandy beaches of Zanzibar.
