The Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

On arrival at the airport you will be personally met and escorted by one of the SafariHQ guides to your accommodation at the Olasiti Lodge. The lodge is located only 7km from the central Arusha business district. It is a lovely tranquil oasis to relax unwind before departing on safari early tomorrow morning. Those feeling adventurous can take the short trip into town and explore all that the bustling town of Arusha has to offer.

Day 2: Tarangire National Park

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

After breakfast you will be greeted at your accommodation by your SafariHQ guide who will brief you about safety in the parks whilst on safari. We will then depart for your first day of safari and make or way to the picturesque Tarangire National Park for an adventure packed day of game driving. This park is dominated by the perennial Tarangire River and is characteristically known for its giant baobab tress that stretch and wind their branches into the blue sky. The most spectacular feature of Tarangire is its large elephant population. In fact, it has the largest population of any park in northern Tanzania. These gentle giants abound in excess of 3,000. Tarangire is currently experiencing and elephant baby boom and you will notice a lot of juniors and babies as members of  the herd.  Also expect to see zebra, eland, mongoose, giraffe, bushbuck, hartebeest, dik dik, impala, warthog, reedbuck. Primates you may encounter are olive baboon, vervet monkey and bushbaby. Many carnivores are abundant throughout the park such as lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena and jackal. Dinner and overnight stay at Maramboi Tented Camp.

Day 3: Tarangire National Park

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
After breakfast, enjoy an adventure packed day of game driving in Tarangire National Park. Beside herds of elephants you can  also expect to see zebra, eland, mongoose, giraffe, bushbuck, hartebeest, dik dik, impala, warthog, reedbuck.  Many carnivores are abundant throughout the park such as lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena and jackal. Lunch can be enjoyed back at your accommodation or you can opt for a packed lunch to be enjoyed in the park. In the late afternoon you will return to Tarangire Safari Lodge to enjoy a sundowner while taking in the many colours of the setting sun over the Tarangire landscape.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Highlands

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
After breakfast we will make our way to the Ngorongoro Highlands. Enjoy spectacular panoramic views as we wind our way through the highlands to arrive at your accommodation in time for lunch at Ngorongoro Farm House. In the afternoon you have the option to enjoy a game drive in Lake Manyara National ParkThis park boasts a diverse and varied terrain in a relatively small area. The park stretches along the base of the 600 metre high Rift Valley escarpment. Lake Manyara covers two thirds of the park. Incredibly, the other third of the park homes a variety of animals, which are supported by open savannah grassland with rocky outcrops, marshes and acacia woodland. The park is famous for tree-climbing lions and a huge variety of birds including flamingo. Other animal found here are buffalo, zebra, hippo, leopard, elephants and giraffes. Alternatively, you may wish to visit Mto wa Mbu village or you can opt to remain and enjoy the hospitality of your accommodation at Ngorongoro Farm House.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater

Today you will enjoy a full day of action packed game driving in the world famous Ngorongoro Crater. The Crater is a world heritage site and the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and is commonly referred to as the 8th wonder of the world. The 2,000 feet high walls of the approximately 10 mile wide crater create a natural amphitheatre for the densest populations of large animals anywhere in the world. With a resident population of over 25,000 mammals, you are sure to be overwhelmed  by the abundance of wildlife that exists within the crater. The Ngorongoro Crater is a microcosm of the African safari experience and in one day it is possible to see a staggering array of wildlife including all the big carnivores. With abundant and easily accessible wildlife the Ngorongoro Crater is truly awe inspiring with a strikingly majestic and sublime landscape. In the early afternoon we bid the Ngorongoro Crater farewell and make our way back to your accommodation at Ngorongoro Farm House.

Day 6: Serengeti National Park

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
After enjoying breakfast we will depart through the rolling hills of the Ngorongoro Highlands to visit a traditional Maasai boma. Here you will be greeted by the Chief who will guide you around the boma and explain the culture of the Maasai people. After saying goodbye to the Maasai, you will enjoy lunch en-route as we head towards the world famous  Serengeti National Park which is unequalled for its beauty and scientific value and has come to symbolize the classic African Safari. The vast, endless grass plains are among the richest grazing grounds in Africa, making it home to some of the largest herds on the planet. With more than 2 million wildebeest, 500,000 Thomson’s gazelle, and 250,000 zebra to name but a few, the wildlife population of this park is simply staggering. Throughout the year, the huge wildebeest and zebra herds move in a clockwise direction around the plains, searching for fresh grazing grounds. Enjoy an overnight stay at your accommodation at Kati Kati Tented Camp. Please note that during the months of April to May accommodation will be in a lodge for the Serengeti portion of this itinerary.

Day 7: Serengeti National Park

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Today you can choose to rise early and enjoy a balloon safari(please note that this is an optional activity and accrues an additional charge with notice being required to assure your position). The balloon safari concludes with a traditional champagne breakfast on the Serengeti plains. Alternatively, you may wish to do an early morning game drive where you may get a chance to observe the nights predators on the last prowl before retiring to rest for the day, or enjoy a relaxed morning around the lodge before heading out in the afternoon for a game drive. Return to Kati Kati Tented Camp for a sumptuous dinner.

Day 8: Serengeti National Park

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

After breakfast, enjoy your last game drive en-route to Seronera Airstrip where you will say goodbye to your guide and catch a flight over the Serengeti and back to Arusha where we will be waiting to transfer you to your accommodation at Olasiti Lodge for the night.

 

 

Day 9: Arusha

Meals: Breakfast

This morning you will transfer to your next destination or International Airport. You may want to add one of our optional activities as your next destination. Maybe a gorilla trek or you may just like to spend a couple of days relaxing on the white sandy beaches of Zanzibar.
