The Great Wildebeest Migration Safari 4 Day

4 Days/3 Nights

This itinerary is great if you don’t travel well over long distances in vehicles but would like the opportunity to see the “Great Wildebeest Migration”. We have specifically selected accommodation in the Serengeti that is located along the migratory route and is also serviced by local airstrips. This enables us to fly guests in on light aircraft and place you right in the middle of the action of the Serengeti’s Great Migration within minutes of arrival. This is a very popular itinerary with families and the elderly as the transit times are short.

The Itinerary

Day 1: Serengeti National Park

Meals: Lunch, Dinner

You will be met at your accommodation by a SafariHQ representative who will transfer you to Arusha Airport for your short flight direct to Serengeti National Park. The flight takes approximately 1 hour and it is a unique introduction to this world famous location. The Serengeti is 1.5 million hectares in size and an aerial view of its magnificence provides you with the true vastness of its dimensions. Upon touch down you will be greeted by a SafariHQ guide who will whisk you off on your first game drive. Accommodation for the night will vary depending on the time of the year and also the budget and preference of the traveller.

Day 2: Serengeti National Park

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Enjoy a full day of game viewing as you follow the great herds through the Serengeti. Although outnumbered 8 to 1, approximately 200,000 zebra join almost 1.7 million wildebeest in the migration, maintaining their family units of approximately 8 members, each with a dominant stallion. The zebras yelping bark combines with the bleating of the wildebeest to give the typical ‘sound’ of the migration. Lion, cheetah and hyena follow the migration ensuring that only the fittest survive. This is natures laws of selection at work. Accommodation for the night will vary depending on the time of the year and also the budget and preference of the traveller.

Day 3: Serengeti National Park

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Enjoy another full day of game viewing one of the most breathtaking events in the animal kingdom. The wildebeest migrate in search of fresh pasture and water. The rumbling hooves of wildebeest and the clouds of red dust they leave behind has come to symbolise the Serengeti. The strong migratory instinct of these fascinating animals takes them on a journey that crosses crocodile infested rivers, wild currents and passes 1000′s of predators lying in wait for an opportunity to pick off the young, weak and wounded. After an action packed day of game driving you will return to your accommodation.

Day 4: Serengeti National Park

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

After breakfast you will be transferred to Seronera Airstrip where you will say goodbye to your SafariHQ guide and fly back to Arusha where you safari concludes. You may wish to add one of our optional activities as your next destination. Perhaps a gorilla trek or a relaxing beach break in Zanzibar.
