Safari at a Glance
Days 1 - 3: Selous Game Reserve
You will fly into Dar es Salaam where you will catch a connecting flight to Selous Game Reserve. Enjoy an aerial perspective of Selous as you head towards the airstrip, where you will be met by a driver who will escort you to the luxury permanent tented camp, Selous Safari Camp. Selous Game Reserve is home to over 1,000,000 large animals and is home to over half of Tanzania’s elephant population. The Rufiji River that runs through Selous is home to one of the largest populations of crocodile and hippo in any game park in Africa. Enjoy a boat cruise on the Rufiji River, game drives and walking safaris that explore the bush. These walks are very leisurely and concentrate on ecology, tracking, dung identification, medicinal use of trees, birds and generally giving guests a broader understanding of nature. An experience not to be missed!
Days 4 - 6: Ruaha National Park
After a leisurely breakfast you will driven to the airstrip for your 09:30 flight to the Ruaha National Park. Ruaha is a true unspoiled natural wilderness. Due to its remote location very few people visit this park, but those that do are treated to unsurpassable wilderness and complete isolation. The park is teeming with millions of animals and vast herds characterise the wildlife experience. There are many activities that are available, including evening and afternoon game drives, specialist bird watching safari’s, game walks and photography safari’s(these activities are included in the safari price). Your accommodation is at Jongomero, a luxury permanent tented camp that captures the true essence of the African safari. The camp is not fenced and animals are free to roam through the camp. Vast herds of buffalo come within close proximity of the camp itself. Lion occasionally pass through and elephants are daily and night visitors to the camp itself.
Days 7 - 9: Tanzania coast
You will enjoy a morning game drive before being transferred to the airstrip for your 11:45 flight to Dar es Salaam. On arrival you will be met and personally escorted by road to your luxury accommodation at Ras Kutani, located on the tranquil Indian Ocean shore of Tanzania. Relaxation is the experience here! The temperate seas and the proximity of coral reefs ensure a wealth of marine life for those that are keen to snorkel. Apart from a array of colourful fish, dolphins, whales and turtles are frequent visitors the shores. Kayaks are available free of charge to guests and can be used in the fresh water lagoon. Your accommodation is in cottages that are constructed from natural local materials that harmonise perfectly with the tropical surroundings.
Day 10: Dar es Salaam
Enjoy your last morning in paradise. You will be transferred to Dar es Salaam Airport where you adventure with SafariHQ concludes. You may wish to add one of our optional activities as your next destination.
