The Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha

Meals: Dinner

Jambo!! Welcome to Tanzania! On arrival at Kilimanjaro or Arusha Airport you’ll be personally met and escorted by one of our professional guides to the your accommodation at The Arusha Hotel, in the heart of Tanzania’s safari centre, where you will spend the night. Take some time to soak up the busy and unique atmosphere of Arusha. Activities include sightseeing, visiting the local sights such as the Tanzanite Experience Museum or browsing the local shops and the arts and crafts market where you may purchase work from local artisans.

Day 2: Lake Manyara National Park

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

After enjoying an early breakfast at your hotel you will be greeted by one of the SafariHQ guides who will brief you on the activities of the day before heading off on the first day of your safari. You will enjoy a panoramic morning drive to the stunning Ngorongoro Conservation Area. En-route we will stop at Mto wa Mbu village. The village is considered a melting pot of various tribes from Tanzania.  Try your skills at bartering with the locals to purchase local curios. We will then make our way to your accommodation at Lake Manyara Wildlife Lodge, where we will enjoy a hot lunch before departing for a short drive to Lake Manyara National Park for a full afternoon of game driving.  The park stretches along the base of the 600 metre high Rift Valley escarpment. Lake Manyara covers two thirds of the park. Incredibly, the other third of the park homes a variety of animals, which are supported by open savannah grassland with rocky outcrops, marshes and acacia woodland. The park is famous for tree-climbing lions and a huge variety of birds including flamingo. Other animal found here are buffalo, zebra, hippo, leopard, elephants and giraffes. Dinner and overnight stay at the Lake Manyara Wildlife Lodge. At night you have the option to enjoy a night game drive in the park(please note that this activity is an optional extra and is not included in the safari price).

Day 3: Lake Manyara Wildlife Lodge

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

This morning you will enjoy a morning game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. In the afternoon you may choose from a list of various activities. You may wish to visit the local orphanage. Here, the children will delight you as they show off their english speaking skills. It is hard not to be mesmerized and touched by their infectious smiles and their enthusiasm for visitors. Another option is to return to Mto wa Mbu Village to visit the markets and pick up some souvenirs. Alternatively, you may choose to relax and enjoy your accommodation at Lake Manyara Wildlife Lodge.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
This morning you will enjoy a panoramic game drive through theNgorongoro Conservation Area, stopping for a coffee plantation tour on the way.  Here you will observe the process behind growing and harvesting coffee beans. At the conclusion of the tour you will get a chance to enjoy the local brew. You will arrive at your accommodation at Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge in time to enjoy a buffet lunch. Your afternoon will be spent relaxing and taking in the spectacular views from your accommodation.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
This morning we will ascend into the world famous Ngorongoro Crater to enjoy a day of game driving . The rich pasture and permanent water of the Crater floor supports a resident population of an estimated 25,000 mammals, you are sure to be overwhelmed by the adundance of wildlife that exist within the crater at any one time. You are likely to see large herds of wildebeest, buffalo, zebra and Thompson’s gazelle. There are also large numbers of lion and spotted hyena resident in the crater. The dense forest on the slopes and rim of the crater provides shelter for elephants and the endangered Black Rhino. Dinner and overnight stay at Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge.

 

Day 6: Serengeti National Park

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
After an early breakfast, enjoy an early morning game drive, before departing at mid morning through the rolling hills of the Ngorongoro Highlands to visit a traditional Maasai village. Here you will be greeted by the Chief who will guide you around the boma and explain the culture of the Maasai people. After saying goodbye to the Maasai people, you will head towards the Serengeti National Park via Olduvai Gorge to visit the museum. This world famous archaeological site containing fossils of our early human ancestors, thought to be over 2 million years old. From here,  you will continue on a game drive that will take you over the majestic plains of the Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti is Tanzania’s oldest and most popular park, also a world heritage site and proclaimed a 7th world wide wonder. The park is famed for its annual migration, when some 6 million hooves pound the open plains in search of fresh grazing.  The Serengeti offers amongst the most scintillating game viewing in Africa.  Expect to see great herds of buffalo, elephant, giraffe, topi, eland, hippo, leopard, wildebeest, zebra and much, much more. Dinner and overnight stay at Seronera Wildlife Lodge.

Day 7: Serengeti National Park

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Today you can choose to rise early and enjoy a balloon safari(please note that this is an optional activity and accrues an additional charge with notice being required to assure your position). The balloon safari concludes with a traditional champagne breakfast on the Serengeti plains. Alternatively, you may wish to do an early morning game drive where you may get a chance to observe the nights predators on the last prowl before retiring to rest for the day or enjoy a relaxed morning around the lodge before heading out in the afternoon for a game drive. Return to Seronera Wildlife Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 8: Serengeti National Park

Meals: Breakfast

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before we head back to Arusha where you will say goodbye to your SafariHQ guide and transfer to your next destination in Africa. You may want to include one of our optional activities to your itinerary as your next destination. Maybe a gorilla trek or you may just like to spend a couple of days relaxing on the white sandy beaches of Zanzibar.
