After the briefing we will make our way to Tarangire National Park.  This park has some one of the highest densities of elephants in Tanzania, and it’s sparse vegetation is dotted by baobab and acacia trees making it a beautifully unique landscape.  The park owes its name to the perennial Tarangire River and photographic opportunities abound when the many mammals of the park make their way to the water to drink. You may be lucky enough to encounter a herd of elephants frolicking in the mud and coating themselves to protect their skin from the sun, or giraffes reaching high into the acacia trees for a feed.  You will enjoy dinner and overnight accommodation at the luxurious Oliver’s Camp.

The rich pasture and permanent water of the Crater floor supports a resident population of an estimated 25,000 mammals, you are sure to be overwhelmed at the adundance of wildlife that exist within the crater at any one time. You are likely to see large herds of wildebeest, buffalo, zebra and Thompson’s gazelle. There are also large numbers of lion and spotted hyena resident in the crater. The dense forest on the slopes and rim of the crater provides shelter for elephants and the endangered Black Rhino. At dawn the endangered black rhino returns to the thick cover of the crater forests after grazing on dew-laden grass in the morning mist. Ascend the crater in the early early afternoon to enjoy sundowners at the charmingly relaxed Gibbs Farm.

The Serengeti is characterized by spectacularly abundant concentrations of wildlife, stunningly beautiful landscapes and vast pristine areas making the Serengeti one of the most exciting parks to visit in Africa. The number of wildlife that call this park home are simply staggering. Estimates put wildebeest numbers at 1.7 million, zebras at 250,000, Thomson’s gazelle at 440,000. Also, be on the lookout for lion, hyena and cheetah, as these predators also exist in high concentration on these world famous plains.  Arrive in time for sundowners at the luxurious Dunia Camp. You have the option to return to your accommodation for a hot lunch or to opt for a packed lunch which can be enjoyed at one of the various picnic sites found in the Serengeti. After lunch you will continue on a game drive.  Around the time of dusk be on the lookout for lion.
